Matt B. Interview

1. Age: 27

2. Where are you from? Salt Lake City, Utah

3. Current occupation? IT Manager

4. Favorite current pop song?

I'm addicted to mash-ups. I usually listen to KapSlap, but I'm really enjoying Avicii's Wake Me Up.

5. Which do you prefer: boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs? Why?

My day-to-day wear would have to be my CK boxer briefs, but I love to wear a jockstrap too. Boxer briefs are functional and work well in my job, but jockstraps can be really fun to wear.

6. Has your current preference always been your underwear preference? If not, what’d you switch from, and what made you change?

I went through a boxers phase in high school but I switched to trunks and they just worked a lot better.

7. Do you favor any underwear brands? If so, which and why? CK, Cin2, and N2N

8. What would someone find if they went through your underwear drawer?

A mess! Seriously I need to go through and clean it up. Lots of jocks, trunks, a few pairs of camo briefs, and my undershirts share the space.

9. You get a natural wedgie in public – how do you handle it?

Find someplace to adjust! The discreet adjustments never seem to work.

10. Do you have a lucky or favorite pair of underwear? If so, what color/style?

Good things seem to happen in my purple CK trunks. They're my "go to" pair. My green Cin2 jock is a favorite too.

11. GQ wrote an article a few months ago stating that “tighty-whities” are stylish now. How do you feel about tighty-whities, & do you agree with GQ?

I think they can be, when they're a more stylish cut. Gabriel Gastelum did a great photo set with Parker Hurley that showed some great briefs. http://gdxblog.com/editorial-saturday-morning-cartoons/

Dayne Hudson Interview

I'm very excited to publish this weeks interview with the handsome Dayne Hudson! Mr. Hudson is the host and creator of FitNFlexed (A Fitness, Health, Strength and Lifestyle TV Show), and a Health/fitness expert for Ben Fordham on Sydney Live. He kindly provided some more photos of him which can be found at the end of the interview. You can keep up with him and all his adventures on his Twitter ! I also highly encourage you check out more about FitNFlexed! Go check 'em out folks, there are even more great pictures of him!

1. Age: 26

2. Where are you from? The best city in the world! Sydney, Australia.

3. Favorite workout song? Clubbed to death - Rob Dugan.

4. Favorite superhero? He-man!

5. Who or what inspired your fitness interest? Have you always been fit?

Action heroes like Arnold, Sylvester Stallone, and He-man got into my subconscious I think! I've always been an active guy, I played a lot of football (soccer) and cricket as a kid.

But the idea of looking as good as you can, pushing yourself and learning more about myself is what fuels my fitness interest.

6. Can you tell me about Fit’N’Flexed? How did you come up with the idea of it?

I've worked in the media for years, a bit in TV but mainly radio. I love being in front of the camera, and I love fitness, so I took a gamble this year, left my job at Sydney's number one radio station to start FIT'N'FLEXED the TV show!

I started it whilst working in my last year in radio, just hunting down bodybuilders for interviews and doing workout videos. But then I thought it was time to take a risk!

The TV show comes out JANUARY 15, 2014 you can stay updated via the Facebook page via facebook.com/fitnflexed

7. What’s been the most rewarding experience helping others become more fit?

Seeing the look on their face when they realise they can do it! People think optimal fitness, appearance and health, is unattainable, but it's garbage! Anyone can do it - it's all about believing in yourself in order to become your BEST self.

8. What has been the biggest struggle you have encountered while working with Fit’N’Flexed?

Getting high profile athletes. The show will feature one of the greatest athletes Australia has ever seen, Former Rugby League star and 3 x Boxing world champion Anthony Mundine, along with some other sporting stars.

It's hard work to find a break in their schedule, to get them to believe in an UNPROVEN show, UNPROVED host and UNPROVEN product.

It's tough - but if you believe in yourself - so will others.

9. What have you learned about yourself from hosting Fit’N’Flexed?

To not take everything too seriously. This was some advice given to me by my father - a very successful radiologist. If you try and tear apart your presenting, over think things, you just end up stressing yourself out.

I recently watched the making of the legendary Stanley Kubrick film "The Shining." That film starred Jack Nicholson, who is one of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen. You ought to see how that guy works. He's just relaxed, cracking jokes, and not taking himself too seriously. You then watch his performance, and it's mesmerising.

Nothing really is that important. I mean - it is, but not to the point that you need to stress yourself out and prevent your best work from shining through!

10. How do you stay in shape? That is, what does your typical weekly gym schedule look like? How do you keep yourself motivated to stick to your schedule?

Motivation for me is just not a problem.

This is a lifestyle....it's just what you do. A muslim prays, a farmer milks cows, and a fitness fanatic trains.

It's just simple really - The gym will ALWAYS be part of my life!

I lift weights 5 times a week - resting TWO days a week. The rest is just as important as the training - even more in some cases.

Currently, I'm doing limited cardio due to the hectic schedule with Fit'n'Flexed. But -  the weight training always continues.

MONDAY - QUADS, HAMSTRINGS
TUESDAY - CHEST, CALVES
WEDNESDAY - BACK (Thickness) Biceps.
THURSDAY - REST
FRIDAY - SHOULDERS, HAMSTRINGS
SATURDAY - BACK (width aka lats) TRICEPS

11. Can you tell me about what your regular diet looks like? Do you have a guilty pleasure when it comes to sweets or junk food?

Love hamburgers! Peanut butter and honey sandwiches are great too!

Essentially it's:

Breakfast: 6 eggs (3 whites, 3 yolks) oats, one scoop of WHEY protein, Black Coffee.

Around 4-5 hours later: Tuna, Olive oil, Brocolli.

Pre workout: Beta-alanine, Whey protein, Black coffee.

DURING TRAINING: BCAA'S.

POST WORKOUT: Whey protein, Creatine.

DINNER: 2 Kangaroo wraps.

BEFORE BED SNACK: WHEY protein with skim milk (for some casein protein too) with a tablespoon of peanut butter.

12. What is your biggest pet peeve at the gym?

People who are "using" benches, or machines, but talking too much! They leave with chiseled jaws like Ron Moss - but no chiseled muscles or abs!
13. Which do you prefer: boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs? Why?

Briefs certainly! They look better, are more comfortable, and I think the girls like them better too!

14. Do you favor any underwear brands? If so, which and why?

Yes, Calvin does a great job! Andrew Christian makes some great briefs too.

15. You’re in a public place and you get a natural wedgie -- how do you handle it?

Just pull it out mate! I have no issues with public re-adjustments. I just don't care! I mean.....it has to be done!

16. What would someone find if they went through your underwear drawer?

Just a load of Calvin Klein underwear, little sockets for the boat shoes, hankies that mum put in my drawer when I was 4 and have never seen the light of day, and ankle socks, together with black socks them it's time to through a suit on.

17. Do you have a lucky or favorite pair of underwear? If so, what style/color?

Yeah, my American Calvin Klein underwear! They have an American flag on them.....I love them!

18. GQ wrote an article a few months ago stating that “tighty-whities” are stylish now. How do you feel about tighty-whities, & do you agree with GQ?

Providing it's the right time of the year and I'm tanned - sure! But white on a white dude like me can not be ideal. However, I'd like there to be a bit more room, so I'd tend to disagree!

19. Do you have any funny or memorable underwear stories?

Yeah! I once took the trash out in my underwear - and got locked out! I had to go down to my concierge (a Chinese male) to fetch the spare key to open the door!

We both laughed - I told my boss the next day, and he let me come on air to tell the story! It was fun.

20. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

That the biggest sin in life is to have a talent and not to use it. I'd also refer to the "Don't take yourself too seriously" words from my father, It's really helped me out a lot!

Ben A. Interview

1. Age: 29

2. Where are you from? Valladolid, Spain.

3. Current occupation? Chemical Engineering student

4. Favorite current pop song? Burn – Ellie Goulding

5. Which do you prefer: boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs? Why?

I love briefs. They are more comfortable and sexier.

6. Has your current preference always been your underwear preference? If not, what’d you switch from, and what made you change?

When I was younger I used to wear boxers, I didn’t care too much about my underwear. But now,  I think they are as important as other piece of clothing you wear and briefs are a better option for me.

7. Do you favor any underwear brands? If so, which and why?

I’m a big fan of Aussiebum. It’s a good brand with great quality, lots of types of underwear, good prices and they fit me quite good :)

8. What would someone find if they went through your underwear drawer?

Umm… that I care too much about my underwear, I've got lots of undies!

9. You get a natural wedgie in public – how do you handle it?

I’d try to solve it without being seen… hehe.

10. Do you have a lucky or favorite pair of underwear? If so, what color/style?

Yeah, my red Aussiebum wonderjock. They make me have a great bulge :P

10. Do you have any funny or memorable underwear stories?

Well, it's not a story about me, but yesterday I freaked out when I saw a guy wearing a pair of jockstrap at the gym. I think that’s not the ideal underwear for a workout session, don’t ya? Hehe.

11. GQ wrote an article a few months ago stating that “tighty-whities” are stylish now. How do you feel about tighty-whities, & do you agree with GQ?

I totally agree, in fact a couple of days ago I bought a pair of Aussiebum tighty whities, I think they are sexy!

12. Words to live by? Live the life you wanna live.

Dave Cunningham Interview

I'm thrilled to publish this weeks interview with the handsome Dave Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham is a fitness model and personal trainer, and as you can see from the photo above, Mr. Cunningham is definitely talented! He kindly provided some more photos of him which can be found at the end of the interview. You can keep up with him and all his adventures on his Instagram and Twitter! Go check 'em out folks, there are even more great pictures!

1. Age: 26

2. Where are you from? I'm from Gillingham in Kent.

3. Favorite workout song?

I love Linkin Park - One Step Closer when weight training but when doing cardio it has to be Usher - Euphoria, such a great track!

4. Favorite superhero?

Easy question - Superman! However, Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen is a very close 2nd. A follower of mine actually took the time to draw a pic of me AS Dr. Manhattan - that was pretty cool :)

5. Who or what inspired your fitness and model interest? Have you always been fit?

Yeah, I've always been active and sporty, but I always wanted to push the boundaries. Seeing guys like Gregg Plitt and Joe Donnelly achieving success and inspiring others to do so made me say to myself "I don't wanna be the next Greg Plitt, I wanna be the first Dave Cunningham!" And that's why I'm doing what I'm doing.

6. What would you say is the toughest aspect of being a fitness model?

The rejections - for castings, sponsorship opportunities etc. but with every disappointment it just makes you a more mentally stronger person and more determined to succeed.

7. What’s been the most rewarding experience as a fitness model?

When I get messages and emails from people from all around the world saying that I'm THEIR inspiration its extremely overwhelming and rewarding when you know that through your own personal journey for success you are inspiring others to go for their goals.

8. What have you learned about yourself from being a model?

That I'm an extremely strong willed person, that I'm comfortable in my own skin and that I believe in me. All of which I didn't know before which sounds strange but through competing - I get more and more humbled and down to earth with each success or goal achieved.

9. How do you stay in shape? That is, what does your typical weekly gym schedule look like? How do you keep yourself motivated to stick to your schedule?

Well at the moment I'm in contest prep so my training has gone crazy but a 'normal' week looks like:
Sunday - Chest and Bi's
Monday - Back
Tuesday - Quads
Wednesday - REST
Thursday - Shoulders and Abs
Friday - Hamstrings and Calves

10. Can you tell me about what your regular diet looks like? Do you have a guilty pleasure when it comes to sweets or junk food?

My regular diet is about 95% clean and 5% junk. I tend to eat clean throughout the week but I LOVE ICECREAM!!! Haha, it's really cruel how Ben and Jerrys, and Haagen Daas tubs are only 500ml tubs - you can't have two scoops can you, you've gotta polish the whole thing off right!? Haha

11. As a personal trainer, have you ever encountered anyone that has tried to freeload your training from a distance? [I’m thinking of the scene from Bridesmaids where they work out with the class for free from a distance]

Haha, yeah that was a funny clip. Yeah it's extremely insulting when people message you asking if you can write them a diet and training plan as a 'favour' or just for appreciation. It's how I earn a living, I can't pay my mortgage with 'favours' and I can't pay my car insurance with 'appreciation'. Besides, with another film mention, like the Joker says in The Dark Knight "If you're good at something, never do it for free."

12. What is your biggest pet peeve at the gym?

When people leave their weights on the floor or on the machines. It's disrespectful to others and disrespectful to the gym itself. Ronnie Coleman leg pressed over 2,000 lbs and he still stripped all the weights off at the end, so I'm sure other people pressing less weight could put it back where they got it from.
13. Which do you prefer: boxers, briefs, or boxer briefs? Why?

I've got all three in my drawer but I much prefer boxer briefs. They're more comfortable and quite stylish (sometimes lol)

14. Do you favor any underwear brands? If so, which and why?

Can't beat a bit of CK or Diesel - two quality brands

15. You’re in a public place and you get a natural wedgie -- how do you handle it?

Kind of the same way I'd deal with falling over then pretending that it was intentional break dancing. Try and get away with it on the sly but if caught I'd be quick thinking, probably explain it as 'I can't remember where I put my keys...............yep, they're not down there (smooth haha)

16. What would someone find if they went through your underwear drawer?

A load of single socks! I don't know where the other one disappears off to but I hang on to the one that remains just in case the other returns from his travels :P

17. Do you have a lucky or favorite pair of underwear? If so, what style/color?

I've got a black pair and a white pair of Diesel underwear and love them, they fit great and give me the support I need ;) haha

18. Do you have any funny or memorable underwear stories?

Hmmm, well there's one that I've never told anyone, so here goes:

At the 2012 Miami Pro UK Championships we had just registered but weren't due to compete for hours so me and a few fellow competitors went to the bistro across from the Arena. Reaching in my bag I felt a squidgy mess only to find out that the weights I'd brought to pump up with had squashed a banana I had in my bag and it went all over my theme wear aqua briefs, so there I am in a toilet in St. Albans running these pants under a tap trying not to mess up my tan yet trying to get this dodgy white mess from off the briefs. Luckily my theme was the one and only Superman and my cape covered most of it and we didn't have to do quarter turns, so I luckily got away with it. To this day one of my pals Jason Dwarika still jokes and calls me 'Bananaman'! Which looking back is really funny.

19. What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

It's not what you know, it's who you know. Get a good circle of people around you that you can depend on and that can depend on you.
